Clinical Specializations

I work with individuals, couples, and groups on a wide range of mental health concerns including trauma, anxiety & depression, grief and loss, sex and sexuality, identity issues, life transitions, and living with purpose. I operate my practice from a social justice framework and affirm all gender and sexual identities.

Trauma comes in many forms, including developmental wounding, systemic oppression, legacy burdens, and traumatic events. I am honored to work with people to process and heal from trauma whether it is personal, generational, or societal. Trauma healing involves being sensitive to emotional regulation and moving at the speed of your slowest part.

Anxiety and Depression are chronic health conditions that will impact over 40% of Americans at some time in the life. We can develop short-term strategies to manage their impact on your daily functioning while addressing the root causes that lead to these symptoms.

Grief and loss are inherent parts of the human experience. Being witnessed in suffering is only one aspect to healing the pangs of loss. I work with the dual process model of grief, which shows us that by listening to the messages of grief we might be transformed into a version of ourselves that is yearning to be awakened.

Sexuality opens the door to intimacy and self-fulfillment that require us to develop a comfort talking about what society has deemed taboo. Whether its healing from sexual trauma, learning to be present with pleasure, or navigating sexual desires, I can help you express yourself with clarity and pride. I welcome individuals and couples with a variety of relationship structures.

Identity is rich and multifaceted, encompassing a spectrum of aspects from personal and social dimensions to cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Exploring self-concept and navigating the diverse realms of social and cultural affiliations is crucial for understanding our identities. This exploration aids in identifying the necessary elements to carve out a unique and fulfilling path. Individuals with expansive sexual and gender identities, as well as those with multicultural backgrounds, can benefit from examining how their self-concept has been impacted by the familial and social contexts that have shaped them.

Life transitions can be tricky to navigate. Who we are evolves over a lifespan and based on life circumstances. It can be both exciting and scary to find yourself, often by surprise, in a new phase of life, wanting to change profession, or letting go of beloved responsibilities. Working with transition involves honoring (even grieving) our past and using our intuition to chart a path forward.

Living with Purpose is a part of what makes life fulfilling. As Martha Graham so beautifully expressed, “There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, not how it compares with other expression. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.” We can work together to address issues related to self-esteem and self-efficacy that keep you from translating your personal values and unique talents into a gift for the world to enjoy.
